In the installment of the Books That Changed My Life series I am so elated to speak about Light Is The New Black by Rebecca Campbell. Along with Gabrielle Bernstein, Rebecca was one of the first pillarly and wise women whose presence came into my life through books, that helped guide me with my intuition to be who I am today, and to be pursuing the magical dreams that I am today.
Light Is The New Black is the first book I would reccomend to anyone looking into claiming their intuitive whisper to become a Light Worker. Amazon.com writes, “Light Is the New Black is a guidebook for a new breed of women who are here to be bright lights in the world – modern-day lightworkers, who agreed to be here at this time in history. In order to thrive in this new age, everything we do must be an authentic expression of who we truly are. Light Is the New Black will guide you back home to the callings of your soul, so you can light up the world with your presence.”
Amazon goes on to say, “Rebecca Campbell had her first awakening when she was a teenager, but without anyone to guide her, she ignored her soul’s callings and dimmed her light in order to fit in.” Amazon continues to tell more of Rebecca’s story, but I wanted to highlight this line in particular. Rebecca’s book came into my life from my being drawn to her light, as well as pure curiosity, during the time of my first big awakening as a teenager.
I feel responsible to express my gratitude for women like Rebecca, Gabrielle Bernstein, Danielle Laporte, and Marie Forleo (all women who have largely impacted my life), because the work they are doing is both unbelievably powerful, and they are the role models we need more of.
Light Is The New Black was the beginning of my life shifting into positivity, light, and leaning toward love. In a slightly softer way than The Universe Has Your Back effected me, Light Is The New Black opened me up to my purpose and true presence of love and light. Light Is The New Black was a gentle nudge of an answer to the whispers of something deeper within, and The Universe Has Your Back was for me a bigger shake of awakening to the love of the Universe.
There is a line in Rebecca’s book (this line has been hiding from me for nearly 2 years somewhere within the book, I have searched every page, I have clicked and clicked and clicked on Rebecca’s Instant Guidance Oracle in search of this line… so much so that I am beginning to wonder if I read it somewhere else! My heart keeps telling me otherwise, though, and so I listen and trust.) that speaks to the difference between the Intuition and the Ego. This line in particular has really stuck with me. The idea that the Intuition is kind and soft, and the Ego is not so much either of those things really brought me some deep clarity on how to listen to my inner voices.
Rebecca’s light, softness, and grace are something I strive to achieve within my life. Her writing is some of my favorite, particularly her poetry, which you can find snippets of in Light Is The New Black. I cannot wait to get my hands on her most recent, Rise Sister Rise, either.
