Let’s Talk About Lightworking

Let’s Talk About Lightworking

I recently had an experience that caused me to observe my light and my lightworking, and question whether or not to trust people with it. I’ve been observing some feelings, thoughts, and perspectives on lightworking more since that experience, and today I want to talk about it. There is alot of information and opinion in the spiritual community surrounding lightwork, when or when not to do it, who or who not to give light to, to trust people with your light or not, etc.

I’ve read a few articles, as you may have too, about how sensitive empaths and lightworkers are taken advantage of and how they need to be so much more careful. Or, on the other side of the lightwork arguments, I’ve read that lightworking is made up by posers, and that the real work is done in the dark. After experiencing my light and it’s support having been betrayed, and learning from my own experiences what light can be or do for someone, I have to disagree with both of those popular opinions in this cycle of lightworking noise. Here is what I have learned :

  1. I only need to trust in the light itself, not the person I offer it to.
  2. The light I offer will always benefit the person I offer it to in some way, if I am ‘betrayed’ in some way it has no relation to what I have showed up to give.

This is what I have found within my experiences and exploration of light and sharing it. The light I share cannot be abused, for it is pure divine unconditional love. The light that I share and experience is very real, as is the lightwork that I do. I hold space for people in a champion way, I light prayer candles when people ask for prayers, and I send light to anyone I feel could use it. That energy is very real and very present, and it is received in an equally real way. I know that the light I have offered some is part of the reason that they are still alive and experiencing their journeys in life, that is something that is very hard to dismiss or invalidate.

Have I been treated poorly by some of the people I have shared light with so freely? Yes. And I have decided that does not give me the right or validation to no longer share that light with them, or people who appear to be like those that have mistreated me before. While I do believe that darkness is a powerful and needed canvas, opportunity, and catalyst for the light, growth, and wisdom, I do not feel that that discredits or makes the light itself irrelevant. The light and dark need each other, and we need to experience and learn from the both of them.

I will give the light I have unconditionally, to anyone that asks and anyone I feel called to offer it to. The light I have to give will always serve or support someone in support of their highest good, and if I want to inspire + empower as much of the world as I can I cannot be withholding light from anyone or anything.

I am choosing to not only protect this light I have, but to allow it to be invincible. Because it is.

This doesn’t mean that I will not deal with or experience negativity or drama, because Life happens. This means that I am choosing to not allow negativity and/or drama to effect or influence my light. People can be sensitive, I get it, and nothing can truly affect or take my light but me. Nothing can lower my energy or bring me dis-ease or block my magic unless I allow it to. This also does not mean that I will not experience or be open to darkness, either. It means that I will carry my light closely and allow it to guide me through that darkness with as much ease, trust in the process, and understanding as possible.

So I invite you lightworkers, sensitives, empaths, and those who find lightworking to be bullsh*t, to allow your light to be what it is (untouchable), and to allow that to inspire how you show up, and empower you when it is time to face your darkness.

Redefining Self-Help with Danielle LaPorte’s White Hot Truth

Redefining Self-Help with Danielle LaPorte’s White Hot Truth

I recently was gifted with the experience of reading Danielle LaPorte‘s new book, White Hot Truth, before it’s release to the world and thought I am a bit biased about Danielle and her work, this book is a MUST READ for any Self-Help lovers. White Hot Truth is not only a charming memoir like expression of Danielle and what she has learned along her journey, it also offers some lessons about self-improvement and spirituality that we often do not recognize or forget to honor.

Redefining Self-Help with Danielle LaPorte's White Hot Truth

White Hot Truth: Clarity for Keeping It Real on Your Spiritual Path from One Seeker to Another is about devotion, honor, and the white hot truth of how messy our journey’s can be. “Has your self-help become self-criticism? A wise and often hilarious exploration of the conflicts between spiritual aspiration and the compulsion to improve, from Oprah Super Soul 100 member, Danielle LaPorte.

Like a wise girlfriend you can totally relate to, Danielle cheerleads you to own your wisdom and self-worth by having a good laugh (and maybe a good cry) at the ways you’ve been trying to improve on your self-improvement. Rooted in compassion, feminism, and spiritual activism White Hot Truth is an intimate and (hilariously) relatable account of self-help tales gone wrong, and very right.” writes.

There are 2 books right now that I would recommend for someone wanting to deepen their work, and learn how to honor the experience, White Hot Truth is one of those 2. This book has taught me so much about self-work and how to flow within that process. White Hot Truth teaches this and more along each beautiful page.

Danielle expresses the importance of honoring how messy self-improvement and the spiritual journey to enlightenment can be. She shares personal experiences of how she honored herself and her process in trusting her intuition, and clearing her house of all healing crystals and metaphysical tools she had, because she needed to purify and cleanse from some un-desirable energy. All along the way, Danielle shares hilariously personal stories and moments of personal heartbreak and turmoil in a stunningly open and wise way.

White Hot Truth is strung along with Danielle’s iconic Truth Bombs that carry you throughout the book like the breeze of a spring day. It’s refreshingly inspirational and empowering. Danielle writes about how openness, unconditional loving kindness, and boundaries go hand in hand. Personally, this was one of the biggest gems that I took from the book. The principle was something I was already aware of, but White Hot Truth and some personal experiences I went through after reading the book really engrained this lesson in my heart.

The truth of the matter is, we’re all on the same path to this space of betterment (and those of us working toward enlightenment). The only things that differ us are our experiences, but our pains and struggles along the way are all rooted in the same lessons. Danielle shares this in a beautifully personal way throughout White Hot Truth.

Danielle also teaches in this book that there are times to pull away from the self-work. We can get so wrapped up in bettering ourselves and our lives that we forget to see how much beauty and light is already present. There is a time and place to just be where we are, to have deep gratitude where we are. To honor ourselves and have pride in how far we’ve come. There is a time to take a break, inhale some gratitude, watch a sunset, and then maybe we can get back to work tomorrow. Or next week.

White Hot Truth has become a manifesto or mantra of sorts for me. What is the White Hot Truth of the situation? What is my White Hot Truth in how I am feeling toward _____? Am I coming from a place of White Hot Truth? All of these questions and more come up within my life all of the time now, and this intention has created such a beautiful energy around my life and how I am honoring and expressing myself. /i journal with the prompt of these questions to reconnect to and ground into my truths. It reminds me of the core of my work, my life, how I react and choose to be present, and what my intention is for the life I lead.

White Hot Truth has hands down redefined self-help for me, and I know it can for you too. If you are open to the lessons and stories you will find a new trust and truth in your journey and how divinely perfect and humanly messy it is and will be at times.

You can get Danielle LaPorte’s White Hot Truth here and here. Today (May 15th, 2017) is the last day to get the audio book for free, so if you want to dive into this book and the stunning audio from Danielle, you can find that here. Also, I highly highly recommend you join the White Hot Truth book club (you don’t even have to have the book!) here. You can also read more about how White Hot Truth changed my life here.

May your journey be yours.

White Hot Truth by Danielle LaPorte // Books That Changed My Life

As much as it is a little bittersweet to be ending the March theme of Books That Changed My Life, I am so f*cking excited to share this book with you. This beautiful work of magic and raw realness from Danielle LaPorte was not intended to be a part of this series, but I am incredibly happy + grateful the Universe aligned it.

White Hot Truth: Clarity for Keeping It Real on Your Spiritual Path from One Seeker to Another is an incredibly real and beautifully honest take on spirituality, life, and all things universally true. says, “Like a wise girlfriend you can totally relate to, Danielle cheerleads you to own your wisdom and self-worth by having a good laugh (and maybe a good cry) at the ways you’ve been trying to improve on your self-improvement. Rooted in compassion, feminism, and spiritual activism White Hot Truth is an intimate and (hilariously) relatable account of self-help tales gone wrong, and very right.”

Books That Changed My Life - White Hot Truth by Danielle Laporte from the Spirit & Soul blog

In my blog about The Desire Map, I raved about how much I ADORE Danielle and her presence and her work. My love for her only grew deeper and more true within every page of White Hot Truth. White Hot Truth is easily one of my favorite books of spiritual exploration, because of how honest and human Danielle shares her stories + experiences.

I think my biggest takeaway from WHT was that spirituality is equally as human as it is transcendent. It’s beautiful, soulful and enlightening and it is also messy and painful and chaotic sometimes. White Hot Truth is a really beautiful book about giving light and loving – but in a way that is not ‘more light, more love, output all of the goodness’, it’s also ‘bring light to the dark, love extra on the messes of life, if you’re going to love – love it all, if you’re going to feel and grow, feel it all’. Which is really profound and honest. It is soul wrenchingly needed for the ‘trend’ of spirituality today.

As many others in the White Hot Truth launch team have said, “This is a book that needs more than one read.” And while the book isn’t quite out yet, you can preorder it here and get the free audio download here. White Hot Truth has also become a manifesto of sorts for me, or even a mantra at times. I will ask myself, “What is the White Hot Truth?”, when I am experiencing something funky or energetically off.

Now that I have shared a few favorite lines before I tie off this blog, I want to extend my greatest gratitude to Danielle and Team D for being so incredible. I would like to offer my deepest love to all of the other girl’s in the launch team, as well as to anyone else diving into this book and shifting their practice + spiritual outlooks.

Get the White Hot Truth audio book for free here, and join the White Hot Truth book club (even if you don’t own a copy of the book, or haven’t listened to it!) here.

The Desire Map, by Danielle LaPorte // Books That Changed My Life

The Desire Map, by Danielle LaPorte // Books That Changed My Life

We are just beginning the March 2017 theme of Books That Changed My Life, but I’m not quite done yet, there are still a few pieces of magic in store. This week I am so elated and grateful to write about The Desire Map, by the incredibly inspiring Danielle LaPorte. This book is a powerhouse shifter for anyone feeling lost, unclear, or in search of deeper soul inspired direction.

The Desire Map: A Guide to Creating Goals with Soul, is all about setting goals with intention, and soulful clarity. says, “With The Desire Map, Danielle LaPorte brings you a holistic life-planning tool that will revolutionize the way you go after what you want in life. Unapologetically passionate and with plenty of warm wit, LaPorte turns the concept of ambition inside out and offers an inspired, refreshingly practical workbook for using the Desire Map process.”

Danielle is a huge inspiration to me, and her career and ‘image’ of authenticity and rawness inspires me everytime I see something of hers online, or with her name attached. From my perspective she leads a life of magic, flow, and serious connection to Source. Her vibe is a little wild too, which is something I am very keen on.

Books That Changed My Life - The Desire Map by Danielle LaPorte from Spirit & Soul Blog

The Desire Map showed me a way to set goals that I hadn’t really grasped or awakened to quite yet when I began the book. The concept of focusing on Core Desired Feelings was groundbreaking to me, and it has become quite crucial to how I lead my life.

The simplicity of having just a few words to work from, intuitively or not so much, is a really powerful and stunning piece of wisdom that I will likely carry with me into my grave, or next life. I remember watching spiritual teachers on youtube one night as I was painting, and a random video of Danielle was on. I was kind of listening as I was painting… Until the very end of her time on stage.

Danielle began reciting a poem of hers, that I would learn from reading The Desire Map was titled ‘Decide To Rise’, and after a few words I rewound the video to the beginning of the poem. I was glued to her presence as she spoke. This poem was the only thing I needed to hear from that video at that time, I was in tears, and the message was beyond what my heart and soul needed to be told on that night.

As I mentioned before, I rediscovered that poem in all of it’s wise simplicity and realness in The Desire Map, and I often go back to read it. It is one of very few things that will deeply remind me of what I want, and how I need to get it, who I need to be to achieve all that I want to. To this day I get chills when I listen to her recite this poem.

I am beyond grateful to and for Danielle for sharing her story, for publishing her works no matter what someone might say or judge. The Desire Map is just the tip of the iceberg, her emails and public speaking engagements (though I have not personally attended, I have seen many a video) are soulfully real and unapologetic.

THE DESIRE MAP ~ Danielle Laporte

main-desire-book“Your bucket list. Quarterly objectives. Strategic plans. Big dreams. Goals. Lots of goals and plans to achieve those goals—no matter what. Except …

You’re not chasing the goal itself, you’re actually chasing the feeling that you hope achieving that goal will give you.

Which means we have the procedures of achievement upside down. We go after the stuff we want to have, get, or accomplish, and we hope that we’ll be fulfilled when we get there. It’s backwards. And it’s burning us out.

So what if you first got clear on how you actually wanted to feel in your life, and then created some “Goals with Soul”?

With The Desire Map, Danielle LaPorte brings you a holistic life-planning tool that will revolutionize the way you go after what you want in life. • Identify your “core desired feelings” in every life domain: livelihood & lifestyle, body & wellness, creativity & learning, relationships & society, and essence & spirituality
  • Create practical “Goals with Soul” to generate your core desired feelings
  • Why easing up on your expectations actually liberates you to reach your goals
  • Self-assessment quizzes, worksheets, and complete Desire Mapping tools for creating the life you truly long for”
This book has turned the way I look at manifesting & co-creating my life upside down… or rather, right side up.

Miracles Now ~ Gabrielle Bernstein

MiraclesNow“Let’s be real for a sec. Most of us don’t have time for an hour of yoga or 30 minutes of meditation every day. We’re overwhelmed as it is. Our spiritual practice shouldn’t add to that.
That’s why I’ve handpicked 108 simple techniques to combat our most common problems—stress, burnout, frustration, jealousy, resentment. The stuff we have to deal with on a daily basis. This book is designed so that you can achieve peace and experience miracles now.
Inspired by some of the greatest spiritual teachings, these practical, moment-to-moment tools will help you eliminate blocks and live with more ease. They’re powerful, life-changing meditations and principles, modernized and broken down into easy-to-digest techniques to fit your lifestyle.
Throughout the book, I share principles from both A Course in Miracles and Kundalini yoga and meditation. These tools can help you find your connection to your inner strength. When you practice these techniques, fear will melt away, inspiration will spring up, and a sense of peace will set in.”

I haven’t read this one all the way through, but I use it like a tarot or an oracle when I know I need something to recenter me in a really powerful way and the tools this book provides are just that. Powerful + effective.
