The Importance of Claiming Your Authenticity

The Importance of Claiming Your Authenticity

The word ‘authenticity’ has become a buzz-word of sorts recently, and as much as I dislike the buzz-word trend, I think this is an incredibly important topic that our society needs more of. It’s becoming clearer and clearer that the masks we once were no longer work. It’s becoming more meaningful to live out a transparent life, dazzling or incredibly messy or both, rather than a life of falsehoods, and that is a message I can get behind

I made a vow to myself somewhere around 12 or 13 years old that I would never wear a mask or hide myself, no matter who I was around. I was told that I couldn’t realistically do that, and that that was just the way the world worked a lot of the time. That wasn’t something I was willing to let get in my way of building the life I wanted to live, and to be the beautiful mess of a person I am.

Lucky for me, my peers have all grown up and our Millennial voices are shaking up the game on many a level. These masks we tend to wear are no longer taken at face value. They do not work any longer, because everyone is awakening to the fact that everyone around them wears the same masks.

We don’t want to know your story anymore, we want to know your experiences. What have you lived through? What makes your heart sing? What inspires you? Who do you really want to be?

Our society that used to keep most of the messy parts of life hush-hush and under tight wraps, has broken free and seems to be asking more and more, “Show me your darkness, and we can make it into light.” Trending or not, I am all in for this ‘movement’.

You need to allow yourself your birth given right to be unapologetically and authentically you. When we choose to wear a mask instead of sewing our hearts onto our sleeve, it is an act of murder in a way. We kill off a part of ourselves in hiding our realness, if not our whole self, and that is a very unfortunate truth.

When you do not share, or allow, your soul essence to be freely, you do in fact die. You, the person who is reading this right now, the you that isn’t wearing a mask for anyone else in this moment, that person dies to allow something else to fill it’s space for a few hours, days, or years. This is a very real, not metaphorical, truth.

No one want’s to die young, but when we choose to allow our truths, passions, and ways of being slip away that seems to be exactly what happens. It is a state of being that is unfulfilled, untrue, and more than unnecessary. Passing buzz-word or not, this is why we need to live authentically.

We know better now. We can do better anytime. So why not choose today? Our self-imposed fear of judgement or criticism is the only reason we put a mask on in the first place. I myself, would much rather be judged and criticised for who I truly am, than for an edited or filtered version of who I am.

It is more than likely that we will all be judged by each other on some level anyway. Why not be judged for who we truly are? Why not be judged for the You that you love, the authentic and raw you, rather than the you that you’ll never see when you look in the mirror? Claiming a personality, sexuality, feeling, opinion, etc. that is not of your own is self disempowerment, and you cannot claim it with truth on your side. It is claiming unfulfillment, falsehood, and it results in an unhappy life.

Claim your authenticity so that you can free your own life and your happiness. Maybe you will inspire others along the way and this awakening will continue to grow.

The One Mindset That Will Make You Grow The Most

The One Mindset That Will Make You Grow The Most

In the process of personal development and spiritual growth it can sometimes be easy to still fall into old patterns of allowing limiting beliefs to both be present and be accepted as if they are true. It can sometimes be hard to recognize these instances and patterns of fear, and it can be even more difficult to break those patterns.

It is one thing to take note of everything that holds you back, and it is another to move through those very blocks. This kind of practice can be extremely trying (if that is what you make of it) and it can also be one of the most valuable pieces of your life. It is hard work, sometimes it is the least fun thing you can do, and often it takes quite a bit of emotional energy.

I find that the most powerful and universal wisdom is also the simplest, and this tool for empowering growth is a great example of just that. Many of us are aware of the presence of resistance within ourselves, for the most part. Resistance is most often manifested as a feeling of hesitation, fear, or doubt. This presence could sometimes be interpreted as intuitive ‘protection’, but what many don’t know is that resistance is often a doorway to some of the greatest experiences of growth you can live.

If you choose to allow your resistance to be a doorway, when you acknowledge the presence of resistance choosing to move through it can be the most liberating and empowering experience. In my personal experience, it always is. This is because when you choose to let go of inhibitions and go after the thing that makes you most uncomfortable you are pushed to expand. Your mind opens, your heart stretches, and your spirit will begin to sing.

A prime example of this for me has been reaching out to some of my inspirations. As a young blogger, author and mentor I want to be where my inspirations are. I want to be in their world of light and world shifting love, awareness, and compassion, and to do that I have to connect with those beautiful people in some way. “But oh my, judgement, what if they don’t like what I do, am I worthy of knowing them?” Hello, resistance.

There, I can accept my doubt and fear, or I can see it as an opportunity to expand even more. I don’t know about you, but I like opportunity a whole lot more than being okay with living small minded. So I emailed them, the top 3 women that shifted my life and inspired my work to begin, and now inspire it to continue and deepen and grow richer in flavor. While those 3 emails didn’t get the response my ego would’ve liked, I have since worked with those 3 incredible ladies in some way and I am on my way to that original goal realizing. Can you hear my spirit singing and feel my heart’s fullness, too?

If you can lean into your resistance, meaning feel the fear and do it anyway, you will set yourself free. Taking this kind of action will give you permission to grow in the way you’ve always wished to. If you are courageous enough to face yourself, you will begin to break you own glass ceilings.

A Guide to Tuning into Your Intuition

A Guide to Tuning into Your Intuition

I recently wrote a blog about how to tell your intuition + ego apart, and I think know would be a good time to go deeper into the exploration of Intuition. Defining the line between Intuition, Ego, and Resistance can sometimes be incredibly difficult. I am here to tell you that it doesn’t need to be. Which is exactly why I have created this guide to tuning in! I know, it can be hard sometimes to decipher the difference between Intuition and Ego, but with some small mindset shifts and key points of awareness it can get a lot easier to not only be connected to your Intuition but to know what is really intuitive and what is really resistance at work.

Know your Intuitive voice

Your Intuition will never be upset with you. Intuition will never bully you, make you feel less than, or discourage you from doing something that truly feels good to you on a soul level. This is where you begin to tune into your Intuition from a really strong and safe space. To acknowledge that the kinder of the inner voices is your Intuition allows you to recognize its presence, learn its tone, and open up more to it’s lessons and guidance.

In a speech, Steven Spielberg recently spoke on finding yourself and said, “Your intuition is different from your conscience. They work in tandem, but here is the distinction, your conscience shouts, “Here’s what you should do!” while your intuition whispers, “Here is what you could do.” Listen to the voice that tells you what you could do. Nothing will define your character more than that.” I have to completely agree with this statement, because it is from knowing our intuitive voice and being able to follow it wholeheartedly that allows us to live in true authenticity.

Keeping connected will keep your awareness strong

To then listen to your Intuition, deeply listen, from a heart and soul space, will deepen your connection to its presence. To trust your Intuition will also deepen your connection to it. And it is this kind of connection that will help you become more aware of and in tune with your Intuitive guidance. It is work keeping that connection solid, building upon it even, but it will be the foundation of your relationship with your intuition and keeping that foundation strong is incredibly important.

This means to practice an awareness and mindfulness of what your thoughts are saying, what thoughts you choose to feed into or listen to, and what thoughts are destructive or productive. It is this kind of practice of awareness and intentional listening (or not listening) that will teach you how to follow your inner guidance with confidence. Learning the differences and pros and cons between your own inner voices will grant you a vault of knowledge that you can return to if there comes a time where you aren’t exactly sure which voice is intuitive and which is resistant or Ego.

Trust where your Intuition guides you

Your Intuition will likely take you into uncharted waters if you allow it to, meaning, if you listen to the guidance and follow it’s whispers with inspired action. This never looks quite like you may expect it to, either. Sometimes your Intuition will guide you exactly where you would think, and other times it may tell you to follow your fear and this is where the distinction between Intuition and resistance can get tricky.

This is because your Intuition is going to guide you toward your highest potential and towards an outcome that supports the highest good of all. The Intuition will always guide us towards growth and expansion rather than safety and comfortability, though sometimes safety and comfortability will be aligned, or more important depending on the situation. Which is a great reminder, to follow your intuition with confidence and trust does not mean there will not be risk or uncomfortably along the way. It is also important to know that when you are following the guidance of your Intuition you are always safe, even when you feel like you might not be.

When you are really struggling to decipher where your thoughts are coming from and trying to lead you, do a gut check. Literally check in with your body, maybe in your stomach or heart space, and try out the different options. How does each option feel physically? Take note of anything that feels restrictive and tight, and anything that feels expansive and bright (even if you’re afraid of some piece of this option it will still feel very abundant). Follow the one that lights you up and builds you up, and throw anything that keeps your presence small or weak in the trash.

Intentionally dismiss the Ego

When you begin to listen to, key into, and trust in your Intuition you may notice your Ego having a panic attack. The Ego will flare up, become louder, and likely fight a little bit more aggressively. The first thing to know about this is that it is completely natural and okay. The second thing to know is that if you want to successfully and diligently serve your Intuition, you now need to intentionally dismiss your Ego. This means to very purposefully take actions inspired by your intuitive guidance from a place of awareness and intention

I mentioned this kind of awareness would help keep you connected with your intuition earlier, and it is also important to note that this kind of awareness and intentionality will also be crucial to expanding your trust in your intuition, as well as in quieting the fearful voice of the Ego.

Keep listening. Especially when it sounds silly.

Your Intuition will always guide you toward the light, but sometimes its ways of doing so may seem a little… well, weird. This is when it becomes especially important to listen to and follow that guidance, because these seemingly weird experiences often become our greatest and most impactful lessons. It is these kinds of lessons you will lean on further down the line in your journey to find peace, strength, and confidence in your place when you are working on even bigger lessons and goals.

We call practices a practice for a reason, and the kinship with your Intuition is no exception to that rule. It is a journey, it takes a learning curve, and sometimes it will challenge you like you couldn’t imagine. Keep listening. Keep following the whispers of what you could do. Keep doing that which brings you and creates for others more light.

Ask The Universe For What You Want

Ask The Universe For What You Want

The only reason that dreams in our society hardly become reality, is because we accept that the dreams we desire will ‘most likely’ never be our reality anyway, and that’s before we even try to work towards them! I’d like to invite you to instead be open to the possibilities of the Universe, which includes your dream (whatever that may be) becoming your reality.

For the most part, we have been conditioned, and conditioning each other, not to believe in ourselves. While this is shifting in some ways, it still remains the reality for the vast majority. Why is this? We know of the vast opportunity that the Universe has for us. We have seen people achieve the impossible, build incredible society serving things from nothing, and change the world with their bare hands. So why don’t we believe we can do the same ourselves, let alone try to achieve our own versions of that?

I think this is because we also have grown into a place where we aren’t as keen on asking for what we want. While this is also shifting in some very positive ways, I still see it happen with so many people around me. In mentoring sessions I see people looking for clarity tell me exactly what they want, and the only thing keeping them from the clarity they seek is them. They have to allow themselves to lean into and trust in their desires, and their worthiness. Now, this isn’t easy, but it is one of the most important pieces to achieve that which you desire. It is not selfish to want a beautiful, vibrant, and safe life for yourself. It isn’t selfish to not want to experience distress or exhaustion on a daily basis.

These are our basic human needs. We have to be in a good emotional and physical place so that we can serve those around us in a more impactful way. We also have to be in this space, to the best of our abilities, so that we can align ourselves with what we desire. Part of what can bring us into that energetic alignment, is asking the Universe for what we want.

The more open you are to the Universe supporting you, the more you will see synchronicities, signs that you are on the right path, and the things you desire manifesting for you in even more perfect + divine ways then you could have imagined. So today take a moment to reflect on this: Do you have clarity on what you want? Are you open to the Universe supporting you in actualizing those desires? Are you open to the Universe offering you something better?

And lastly, do you trust that you are supported in what desiring what you desire?

I’d love to hear what this blog inspired to shift in your life + perspective today. Share with us in the comments below how you were inspire + empowered by the shifts you may have had!

Honor Your Process

Honor Your Process

For the entire month of August I am publishing a brand new blog every single day, and you may have noticed that today’s blog went live a little bit later than most of my blogs thus far. This is because I had to honor my own process – and that’s exactly what todays blog is going to be about.

In our society we are not very kind to ourselves, and we tend to not give ourselves enough room to fully experience our lives. Including the less than pretty parts of it. We can live so much more fully, however, if we allow ourselves the space we need to fully honor where we are. That doesn’t mean when we come face to face with pain, emotion, or change, that we cling to it like our lives depend on it. It means that when we come face to face with pain, emotion, or change, that we allow ourselves the space to feel it, allow it to move through us, and we allow ourselves to experience our own process.

There is divine timing for everything in Life. What we often fail to see is that sometimes it is our divine timing to experience some less than magical feelings and experiences. Sometimes, the only thing Life expects from us, is for us to sit with wherever we are + whatever we are feeling. Not dwelling in it, but being with it.

Often times when I take on a new mentoring client, for a single session or a long-term mentorship, their first session ends up needing to be rescheduled for a later date. I find that this is nearly always because a client needs to learn from experience about their own divine timing, and they need to learn how to honor their own process before we begin working together to make the shifts they desire within their lives. Not only does this help them grow gentler with themselves and their experiences, it frees them from the expectation they hold on themselves so that they can be more receptive to the guidance and work that is offered to them in a mentoring session.

As much as a client may be sorry about rescheduling, I am never upset about it. I trust in their divine timing for being able to receive the guidance they need. I trust in their divine timing to be open to that guidance so that they can receive it. I trust in their process, and I want them to honor that just as deeply as they want to honor my time + energy with a mentoring session.

When we can experience the blessing of a magical mess that life is more fully, we can learn and grow with more strength and wisdom to carry us.

I promised to publish a blog everyday in the month of August, and I am. Yesterday, when I would have written this blog, I needed to breathe. I needed to be alone, to sit with where I was for a bit, and to just be there. Learning how to be in that space and allow those feelings to move through you rather than break you is a huge gift in itself.

How will you honor your process today? I’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas in the comment section below.
