An Interview with Ashley Riley

I’ve been gone for a minute, after august & coming out of retrograde called for some rest. Now that I am back though, I have an EPIC interview to share with you from my stunning + wise soul sister, Ashley Riley founder of ‘In My Sacred Space’, dream interpreter, and fellow mentor!
Ashley is a “multi-media” psychic intuitive with a very specific skill set – she taps into your energy field to locate various blockages, be it a limited belief about yourself, a traumatic event, a bad relationship that caused a negative view of self – and then she brings that emotional energy forward into your awareness for acknowledgment and hold an energetic space for you to begin the healing process. Can you say, “Powerhouse healer!”?

Q: I absolutely adore your energy and work, can you share a little bit about yourself and your mission?
A: My mission is actually something I’ve been thinking about and attempting to articulate lately. I’m a big believer in not attempting to force things when it comes to what I write and if I feel stumped about something or it’s unclear, I put it away for a while until it comes to me. I feel like the mission of my blog is very much tied to my own life purpose, and that’s really started to crystalize lately.I’ve come to realize that my purpose is to live a heart-led existence – to help create an energetic template, so to speak, for the rest of humanity to follow. I’m not the only one, of course. There are many of us here to do this, but in the grand scheme of things, it’s what we’re up to.

I think that’s why I decided to call myself a mentor and not a coach or a teacher; because I have to live it, not just talk about it. I have to be a way-shower. And using my own experiences as examples is a big part of my mentorship program, particularly since I tend to attract clients who are going through similar things that I’ve already experienced or am experiencing at the moment.

Q: Why did you start your blog?
A: I used to be the administrator for a Facebook group of about 4,000 people based on the writings of another blogger, and I spent a lot of time there answering questions and giving guidance to members. Eventually it became clear that all of the things I was writing in there could serve a much larger audience. The idea for the blog itself popped into my head while we were on vacation in 2014. I had initially envisioned a lifestyle magazine type blog and that’s what I set out to create, but spirit had other plans. I ended up focusing fare more on personal development and spirituality than anything else.

Over the last three years, it’s continued to evolve and in the last six months I added Personal Development Mentorship and Readings as services and also my online dream interpretation course.

Q: You have a beautifully raw, authentic, and open way of speaking of and teaching spirituality, which is something I find so refreshing and needed. Why is it important to you to express the duality of spirituality and personal development?A: I don’t really feel like it’s a duality. In my mind, the two are one and the same. So closely intertwined. Personal development is the result of spirituality and simultaneously, we reach spiritual understanding through personal development. Both are a never-ending process of exploring the layers of our multidimensional self and ever expanding our conscious awareness, both of the world within us and the world around us.
It’s really important to me to talk about spirituality in a way that makes it accessible to the average human. There’s a lot of spiritual stuff out there that’s written so ‘poetically’ that it’s no longer straightforward or relatable. Half of what you read is stuffed full of new agey buzzwords that are literally meaningless. In fact, one of my group members found a website called the New Age Bullshit Generator that randomly creates New Age sayings. He decided he was going to start posting them regularly on Facebook just to see the reaction it got, and people were liking and sharing it like crazy even though it was completely nonsensical. Lol

A lot of my readers tell me that they enjoy what I write because it’s grounded, genuine, and no-nonsense.

Q: What is your favorite daily practice or ritual, and why is it so important for you?A: My morning coffee. It’s my sacred ritual. It’s not to be disturbed, lest you want to feel my wrath. Lol

Every morning I drink my coffee while I journal my dreams, look up the symbolism and reflect on the meaning.

Q: What do you wish people understood better or more about dream interpretation?A: I wish people understood the significance their dreams hold and that it’s a direct connection to your higher self. Ancient people considered dreams to be the gateway between worlds and that’s something that every single one of us has access to every single night, and yet so much gets lost because we dismiss or ignore it.

When you learn to speak the language of symbolism, it opens you up to a whole new realm of wisdom and possibility, not just while you’re sleeping, but also in waking life. You interpret your dreams the same way you’d interpret your synchronicities.

Dreaming formed the basis of my intuitive development and is still my greatest tool for self-understanding to this day, and I also use it in my mentorship sessions to understand what’s going on with my clients, even when they are consciously denying something. The subconscious mind doesn’t lie.

Q: What was the most important lesson you’ve learned your life so far, and how has it shaped you?          A: The most important lesson I have learned so far is that Love is so much bigger than we give it                  credit for. As humans, we try to define it. Put it in a box. We figure out all sorts of ways to try and                make it smaller, but we can’t. It’s the greatest thing in existence. It’s the ONLY thing in existence.                I’m not sure why we struggle so much to cram it into such tiny, narrow definitions when all it’s                    going  to do is expand to the point that it blows apart anything we attempt to contain it with.

I know that words can’t possibly do justice to what I’m trying to convey right now (because words                themselves are inherently limiting).

If we were to live our lives with the full realization of what Love actually is, it would change the                    world in a heartbeat.

Q: As a fellow intuitive, I am curious, what advice would you give to someone just beginning to tune into their intuition?A: The biggest mistake I made in my own intuitive development was trying too hard. The harder I tried to force it, the more I blocked myself. When I stopped trying and allowed it to flow of it’s own accord, it came when I needed it. To some degree, I still operate that way today. If someone sat down in front of me and asked me to read them, just for shits and grins, I wouldn’t be able do it. It’s not a parlor trick for your entertainment. It comes of it’s own accord and it’s typically when people approach it with a genuine need for guidance.
Q: Your ‘Questions from a reader’ blogs are some of my favorite. What has been your favorite question to answer so far?A: Oh man… I’ve gotten some real mind benders from readers over the years – things about the nature of the universe and quantum physics, parallel universes and other realities. I like it, because it pushes my own limits. I always tell my readers that if it makes your brain hurt when you read it, that’s a good thing – it means we’re expanding your mind. And it works the same way for me as I answer things. Many times, I don’t ‘know’ the answer to something when I start to write, it’s channeled as I write, so I learn right along with my readers.
Q: What do you wish there was more of in the world today and why?A: Most people would probably say Love! Lol But I’m a firm believer that everything in existence is Love, so it’s impossible to have more of it when it’s all there is! It’s just that there’s a lot of fear that’s covering it up. The remedy for that, in my opinion, is discernment. I wish there was more discernment in the world today.

One of my big soap boxes is fear-based beliefs. So many people don’t take the time to stop and ask themselves where their beliefs are coming from – love or fear. If you truly believe that we live in a benevolent universe, that we are all one, and that Love is all there is, then it’s very easy to discern away anything remotely fear-based. The only place it exists is in your head.

Q: What is the #1 thing you’d like to give/leave the world with in this lifetime?          A: A new paradigm of heart-led existence. It’s a tall order, I know. Lol But it’s why I’m here, and the            lives I touch in my process will amplify that energy exponentially, just as the others who are doing              the same. Eventually, we reach critical mass and everything suddenly looks different. A new                          perspective is birthed, and we start living from that perspective, which changes the world around us.
You guys… Can you see why I am so in awe of + inspired by this magical woman?! She is a beautiful soul, and her journey and work inspire my own all of the time.
