Light Yourself Up // A Gentle Reminder

lightyourselfupagr

There is no beauty or magic in being dim
And the lessons of dimness only come when one finds their light
So light yourself up
In the light of others, in places of passion, settings of adoration, in the crisp clean air, in a space of creative flow, in depth and in care
Light yourself up, the world can never greet you if you hide in the dark
Light yourself up, with loved ones and quiet time, with inspiration and authenticity
With warm summer sun and adventurous exploration of yourself and nature
Light yourself up
with empowerment and growth
and the fiercest of passion and flame
Light yourself up because life is too good to experience dimly

The Universe Knows // A Gentle Reminder

The Universe knows what I want
perhaps more than I do myself
and it will give it to me
ever so gently placing it in front of me
ever so lightly + subtly
and if, for whatever reason, I am blinded
The Universe will make me see
pierce my heart + break me open
helping me to realize me

Stagnant Energy // Let’s Talk About It

stagnantenergy

During the month of May, along with a good bit of the end of April and beginning of June, I encountered a pretty weird personal, emotional + energetic shift that lead to the learning of an eye opening lesson that I’m sharing with you here today. I was ‘stuck’ in this stagnancy. Welcome to a new series: Let’s Talk About It. This installment covers Stagnant Energy. {Hint: it’s toxic}

Perhaps that is something you already know, or you could have easily guessed it. I invite you to read about how I got ‘stuck’ in this energetic state (or lack thereof), and how you can avoid getting into that sticky situation yourself.

I fell out of habit of blogging, working truly (that’s never a good thing to do to your own finances). This last month I fell into a super weird funk. I was uninspired (something that is so NOT me) and uninterested. In an attempt to come out of this ‘blah’ vibrational energy I wrote a piece called Alignment + Integrity, which never went out because you could feel the ‘blah’ in reading it. Another lesson there, for another time. I will rewrite that piece in the future to bring new vibrancy to it, because the message is important.

In my small but more serious recent attempts to climb out of this dark energy — a very aggravating and boring energy to be in lets be honest — I had a good honest aha moment. “What you focus on is what manifests.” Negativity breeds negativity, stagnant energy breeds stagnant energy. And even further, I would venture to say things like depression are closely associated with stagnant energy.

When we aren’t in a place of soul fulfillment through doing, creating, etc. we can get into a really dark headspace. When we are more fulfilled, busy doing the things we love (subsequently happier), we do not experience nearly as much darkness, lack of inspiration or interest.

I didn’t feel like doing my work because my energy was off, and I knew at my core intuitively that I needed to not listen to that ‘blah’ energy, but I did. Repeatedly, until it drove me crazy and I could not take it any longer, because I knew it was unnecessary from the beginning. Like many I am sure, I do not fair well in this dark headspace. I can’t handle it for very long — so I deal with it. I face that issue that is responsible for the dark energy head first and get it over with.

We know we get into these places to learn a lesson of ours, but when we can we can be smart and prevent majority of that heavy energy. How do we do that? How does one prevent getting into a stagnant space?

Move. Create movement. Movement of energy is crucial.

Choose motion. Choose to create, to do, to experience, to push through that morning you didn’t want to get up and do your work, to do your work — let it inspire you. Keep moving energy, as hard and fast or slow as steady as you need to – just keep moving energy.

At times we will need to go through the ‘blah’ to learn our lessons, gain our wisdom, and so on. Please always trust the process. Do not kick yourself for coming to that part of your path where you have to go through some shit so you can grow to be wiser. I kept kicking myself through this experience for not moving out of that vibration (or lack thereof) that I was in, and I assure you it kept me there longer.

Deal with what you are facing, do not ignore it. We need to honor the space when a lesson presents itself. Trust in the process, always.

Return to Your Breath // A Gentle Reminder

Your breath
Is your life force
Remember to sit with it
In the hustle, in the moment
In the quiet but swift passing of time
Return to your breath
Be still with it
Feel it, wholly
Allow it to center you, bringing you back to yourself
When everything around you is moving
Return to your breath

How Big Are You Willing To Be?

howbig

How big are you willing to be? How much are you willing to grow? How boldly, daring, courageous, authentic, and loud are you willing to become?

These are the questions on my mind lately.. So often I see people being more than okay with being small, settling in their comfortable little lives. Yet simultaneously everyone has a dream they are dreaming, and everyone wants more, or wants to do more. Less of us are willing to do what it takes though. To own their power, to allow themselves — push themselves — to expand and grow into the largeness of their dreams. They say you cannot get what you do not ask for… so why not ask for more (instead of complaining of what ‘little’ you have)? Or, even better, go and get yourself more.

Many of us say we want to make our mark on the world in a meaningful way, so let’s think about that. The bigger the droplet, the larger (farther) the ripple.

This one is a little deeper than usual, I know. It came from a deeper place of reflection. I am pursuing my passion and I am going after that ‘more’ we are talking about here today. I tend to go after the bigger things wholeheartedly. As much as I know and believe I can do it, this path can get hard and become a heavy stress sometimes. Recently in a time of heavy stress amidst my own breaking + expansion I began to think about this bigness and smallness, comfortable and uncomfortable.

In this particular instant I am speaking of I was of my niche being too small. I felt this was the reason the blog’s growth wasn’t where I wanted it to be. It dawned on me though, while watching a video of my current favorite Jordan Bach’s, that it is not my niche. It is my reach. My reach is small right now, and my ripple is little. Though it be but little it is fierce… and it is growing. And I have to remember, I am only 18. I have only been doing this for (coming up on) 8 months.

The spiritual/personal development/intuitive business leaders that I look up to, and so admire and am inspired by have been doing what they do for a long time. They all started somewhere. We all do. Once upon a time their reach was smaller than they wanted it to be. They were willing to grow, they were willing to become big. They were committed to their passion and being in their power, honing their craft along the way, and expanding throughout it all. If you look closely your idols are doing the same still, too.

We all start somewhere. How big are you willing to be?

I can tell you this: I am right here. I am committed. If I wasn’t enough before, from this moment on I am 100%. I am honing my crafts, and I am expanding. I will not stay small or be content with settling. I will create all that I wish and more. I have the courage to go after it, and I choose to use it. I will get there in time.

And so it is. And it will be.

Getting In Touch With My Numerology // Interview with Martin Adams + Giveaway

life purpsoe app

Recently I have gotten really into learning more about personal numerology. I learned my own numbers, and then went on throughout my family. Siblings, parents, grandparents, and close friends — I got into it. Partially because the information and wisdom held here is so incredibly powerful, and also because I wanted to see just how accurate it was. I had alot of people to test it on, and these numbers have yet to have failed (and I can confidently say I highly doubt they ever will). Soon after I starting going through everyone’s numbers and their simpler meanings, I found an incredible app all about this numerology that goes in depth with each number.

In the palm of your hand you can have a numerology encyclopedia that you can share with anytime! Whether it comes up in conversation or you have an epiphany about something with a family member you can share this wisdom with said person in a snap or simply gain insight into how the people around you see things and process life. Personally I have had such a powerful experience with getting in touch with my life path number, so I wanted to share the wisdom of numerology, as well as the Life Purpose App itself, with some of my readers.

I am so so grateful to have had the chance to interview the app creator, Martin Adams, about numerology, the app itself, and why it can be so helpful to understand. I am even more grateful that he has so kindly offered 20 free app downloads ($199.00 value) to giveaway! Read below for the amazing interview, and the link to enter into the giveaway!

1. For someone who doesn’t now much about Life Path #s, can you give a cliffs notes explanation of what they are?
The Life-Purpose System offers information based on one’s date of birth that can lead to greater self-knowledge. The Life-Purpose System doesn’t so much describe one’s personality as it describes one’s inner drives, talents, and core purpose. It was formalized over twenty years ago by Dan Millman, a spiritual teacher and the bestselling author of Way of the Peaceful Warrior, in his bestselling book The Life You Were Born to Live. He had learned it from a mentor who never revealed from whom he himself had learned it. In my own experience, having worked with the Life-Purpose System for over fifteen years—and after having applied it on clients, coworkers, friends and myself—I can attest to its unusually precise and accurate nature, despite its mysterious origins.
2. How can knowing & understanding our Life Path Numbers assist us in life?
The self-knowledge I’ve gained from studying the Life-Purpose System has helped me be more compassionate: Once I realized that my own ‘personal’ weaknesses were actually part of a larger force of nature to which I belonged, I became more forgiving and understanding toward both others and myself. I also began to trust my instincts more, and this had positive effects in all areas of my life. Even so, life still had to be lived, mistakes still had to be made, and lessons still had to be learned. So while the Life-Purpose System hasn’t opened my eyes for me—inner work still remains inner work—, it’s prepared me to handle life much more gracefully.
3. The app is based on Dan Millman’s Book The Life You Were Born To Live; was creating this app a collaborative effort or was it something you decided to do after reading the book?
I think it was in 2010 when I was trying to figure out a mathematical formula that could calculate one’s life path. It was then that the idea struck to create an app that was based on the Life-Purpose System. So I called up Dan; however, he declined. It seemed the timing wasn’t right. Then, about half a year later I got a call from Dan, and he asked me if I was interested in developing an app based on the Life-Purpose System—he had apparently forgotten my initial call to him six months earlier! Needless to say, I happily said “yes”.
It took a lot of time, energy and money to get the app to where it is today. In the early-days of the App Store, Objective-C (the programming language upon which the iOS version of the app was built) wasn’t yet widely known, so quality programmers were hard to come by. So the first version was poorly coded; it was also poorly designed, which was my mistake since I was in charge of product design. A friend finally helped and, together—he did most of the code while I did most of the product and graphic design—, we created the current instance of the “Life Purpose App”.
4. One of the things I really love about the app is how easy it is to navigate and get deeper into the meanings of the numbers, was that a must-have for this app?
Yes. Because the first version of the app was poorly designed from a user-experience standpoint, I had to rethink the whole user experience from the ground up for the second and all subsequent versions. It was my friend who finally pointed out the ease of Apple’s built-in table system that today forms the backbone of the “Life Purpose App”. Furthermore, the user interface had to be extremely simple—but simple isn’t always easy, so I had to really think about how we could design the Life Purpose App in such a way that only the essentials would remain and give this sacred material the presentation it is worthy of.
5. It is so great to have such a clearly explained and in depth way to learn about a subject like Life Path numbers in such a modern and easy to use tool like an app. What is your hope & intention with what people get out of the app?
If the Life Purpose App can help people be more kind and understanding toward themselves and others, then I would consider this app a resounding success.
